The tides are the wind’s breath through the sea, and we learn their rhythm with a lifetime of watching. When the tide pulls back, it brings the sea’s bounty to the shore, but only when we respect the timing can we catch the freshest fish before the current takes them. To keep the water clear, we must guard the reefs and mangroves; they filter the water and give fish a safe haven. If we let the forest die, the silt will fill the sea and drown the fish. So we plant more roots, keep the shoreline intact, and never let a hunter take more than his share. That’s how we protect the spot and honor the tide.
